Pharma Spray Drying Opens New Facility

Pharma Spray Drying, Inc. (PSD) has opened its new R&D facility in Norwood, NJ. The facility allows the company to focus on the pharmaceutical, dietary, nutraceutical, cosmetic, and food supplement industries. The company can assist in developing spray drying methods for various compounds, with the capability to conduct concept formulation studies through pilot scale non-GMP feasibility trials. The company will also provide product development and scale-up services, as well as assist technology transfer to commercial production levels with its cGMP partners in Switzerland.

The company uses a Buchi B-290 lab scale unit (1 liter/hr of H2O evaporation) to provide proof of concept with small amounts of product. Organic solvents are run with the B-295 inert loop to provide small quantities of substances in dry powder form. Additionally, a Niro Mobile Minor 2000 (1-7 Kg/hr of H2O evaporation) is available, which, according to the company, partners well with the Buchi B-290 for scale-up.
